Cataract definition and information

On this website, you can find:

In a few words, what is a cataract?

Cataract is an eye disease known since Antiquity (it is observed both for animals and humans). The main symptom is the clouding of the lens, which is normally transparent. The vision is changing slowly: glare of light, "veil in front of the eye", duller colors, reading becomes difficult. If it occurs more often for people over 60 years, it also affects younger people, sometimes children. Surgery is generally the only way to improve the vision.

You can find below two pictures showing where the affected lens is located into the eye, and the main symptom of cataract: cloudy or blurry vision.
